Charlie Nivison: Original T-Shirt Art

November 14 - November 25, 2008 in the Gallery
(November 14 - December 17 Online)

Charlie Nivison, surfer and student aged 20,
currently studying Graphic Design at the University of Canberra.

"My inspiration for the type of designs on my shirts comes from street art and surf culture. Growing up outside Walcha, NSW far away from the urban environment working on T-shirts seemed a logical place to place my designs. A strong influence has been English street artist BANKSY, his style of stencilling grabbed me from the first time I saw them, I like the postmodern sense of humour, the use of simple text and strong graphic images. Through my work I hope to express my sense of humour and design. Also I like the idea of wearing a design, its fun especially when you see people wearing something you've created."
